Great podcast guys :)
Great podcast guys :) It helped me realize that though I can't code myself out of a block (*grin*), there are other ways I can help out with Drupal. I decided to join the Docs team, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute in other ways in the future as well (might even finally figure out PHP haha).
As always keep up the great work guys... every Lullabot podcast and article is a real inspiration and motivation to keep going with Drupal.
Pro Drupal Development Book
I think the idea of having someone oversee and control the documentation is a good idea. The Pro Drupal Development book shows a practical example of this, where a small number of people coming together can write excellent documentation (and the Drupal book is excellent!), versus having the community "let loose" so-to-speak on the docs.
I do think there's a definite place for community-driven documentation of course - perhaps to fill in all those gaps, providing lots of examples, and to show where documentation is really needed, but it can't replace a small number of individuals controlling (designing) the layout of the documentation. Again, the Drupal book provides an awesome example of this. I sure hope they revise it for Drupal 6!
