Black Lives Matter - A Public Statement

The people at Lullabot are appalled by the senseless murder of George Floyd (and the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, David McAtee, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray Jr., Walter Scott, Oscar Grant III, Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Tony McDade, and many other people killed as a result of police brutality and racialized violence). The broader problems of racism and racial injustice in this country cannot be ignored. In the past, we’ve left politics out of our work, but these violations of human dignity and safety transcend politics. As Lullabots, we value our humanity, and we accept the humanness of those around us. It is how we live our Be Human core value. To be silent now would be to speak the voice of injustice, even if our small voice is drowned out by the broader chorus.

Speaking, by itself, is not sufficient to meet the moment. Lullabot is pledging financial resources, matching donations of our team, and providing time off to ensure our team members are able to vote. If you feel moved to contribute alongside us, we recommend these organizations working to end police violence against Black people: the ACLU, Black Lives Matter, Campaign Zero, National Police Accountability Project, the NAACP, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
