In order to balance the scope of the project and aggressive launch in time for SXSW, Lullabot and Spredfast worked together as one team, sharing vision and responsibility in both design and development. We conducted rapid research and then dove in together in workshops focused on understanding and prioritizing their customers’ and potential customers’ needs along with the needs of the Spredfast sales and business teams. This early work happened over a period of just a couple of weeks and resulted in the wireframes that became the foundation for the new design system.
The result of the workshopping was a clear vision for the project and the new website. This clear vision allowed the designers from Lullabot and Spredfast to work together and focus in on a smaller set of high priority page types while creating a style guide to define the broader design system. This style guide provided the system and rules to guide all other page types for development.
Despite the breakneck pace, the site launched on schedule with an incredibly immersive user experience. Although the star of the show is the Spredfast platform, the new site also tells the Spredfast story through its customers, highlighting the product in action amongst the brands that use it. Engaging content has taken the forefront, replacing static content descriptions and traditional calls to action. Because when your brand defined “Smart Social,” your website should embody that too.
