Webchick Drupal 7 Tour 2011

Learn all the ins & outs from the lead maintainer herself and become a Drupal 7 Expert!

Almost 3 years in the making, Drupal 7 is a complete overhaul featuring a new user interface, new API's, new theming capabilities, and some amazing new configuration options! And for almost 3 years, along with Drupal project founder Dries Buytaert, Angie "Webchick" Byron has acted as the Drupal 7 co-maintainer, shepherding the Drupal developer community in the creation of this amazing new software. Angie has been teaching Drupal with Lullabot for over 4 years, she's the lead author of the O'Reilly book Using Drupal, and she even won the Google Open Source Award for Best Contributor. Let's face it, she's a complete Drupal rock star.

So we're sending Angie on a rock tour! Assisted by Joe Shindelar, she's flying from city to city to show you how to rock Drupal 7. Catch the Webchick tour as it comes to a city near you. Cities and dates are listed below.

Whether you're a Drupal developer, a themer, site builder, or just a Drupal hobbyist, this two-day seminar will rev your engines and power you down the road to Drupal 7. Angie will be discussing everything from user interface changes and configuration options to theming and programming API changes. It's just what you need to start building in Drupal 7 and start upgrading your old Drupal sites.

Topics covered:

  • A high-level historical overview of the Drupal 7 release
  • What's new in Drupal 7 for end users
  • What's new in Drupal 7 for site builders
  • What's new in Drupal 7 for front-end developers
  • What's new in Drupal 7 for programmers
  • A demo of Drupal 7's new administration interface & site building tools
  • Tips & tricks for how to upgrade sites to Drupal 7
  • Coverage of the most important API changes for module developers & themers
  • How-to information for upgrading modules & themes
  • The meaning of life!

If you've been looking forward to using Drupal 7 on your next project but fearing the learning curve, then the Webchick Drupal 7 tour is for you! Spend two days with Angie and leave with confidence, ready to build your next site with Drupal 7.

Angie Byron (aka Webchick)

Just to be clear, this is a two-day tech seminar, not a rock show. Angie will be covering a lot of topics for anyone interested in Drupal 7 and there will be lots of time for questions and answers each day. We just thought it would be fun to print up tour t-shirts which say WEBCHICK on them. :-)

Doors open at 9am each day. The presentation will be from 10am to 5pm with a one hour break for lunch. On both days a continental breakfast and boxed lunch will be provided to all attendees. Also, coffee and tea will be provided all day on both days, so get there at 9am, grab a coffee and a muffin and meet the other attendees.
