Geek to Chic
Blog by Liza KindredNovember 24, 2010 - 12:07pm
Here's something you've never seen before... Lullabot will be presenting the first ever Drupal fashion show at DrupalCon Chicago. Yeah, you heard that right!
'GEEK to CHIC' will gather our community's most fabulous geeks on the runway to celebrate their own unique styles. You're never going to believe who you're going to see strutting their stuff on the runway! We've got some of your faves already lined up, as well as some pretty mind-blowing entertainment.
Details will be announced closer to the event. Meanwhile, we're looking for a couple of things from the community. We're on the lookout for "vintage" t-shirts from all DrupalCons past to re-fashion for the show, and we're looking for nominations for who you'd like to see strutting their stuff on the runway.
If you've got a t-shirt you could donate to the event (or would like to be considered as a model or event volunteer), drop me a line! (liza (at) lullabot dot com) If you'd like to nominate your favorite Drupal-ers to star in the show, leave them in the comments below!

Hey Liza,

I'm a model if you know what I mean....
I'll shake my little tush on the catwalk.

I might be an exception but I
I might be an exception but I am actually a little disappointed to see this announcement coming from Lullabot.
I hope this doesn't have the unfortunate side-effect of perpetuating stereotypes. Fashion shows mostly end up objectifying women, IMHO.
Don't worry...
Having seen the plans, I think it's fair to say this will be a bit different than what you're envisioning. ;-)
That's reassuring to hear,
That's reassuring to hear, especially in the context of the larger debate that's been on for a while in the community.
I once saw a photo of a woman drupal geek somewhere (won't mention the source) and felt both sad and depressed that the crass stuff we see elsewhere was also making its way into the community.
This is all my personal opinion, anyway. Good luck with the show.
Nobody mentioned a women-only
Nobody mentioned a women-only rule.
Yeah, I know that. But, there
Yeah, I know that. But, there will be many women participants, obviously.
Daytime running lights (DRLs)
Daytime running lights (DRLs) are a low-cost method to reduce crashes. It can improve the noticeability and detectability of vehicle in the central and peripheral fields of view.
From home to hotel, from shop to street, from office to plaza. A new green way to light up your life for LED lights.

Drupal shoes
Too bad I can't be there to show off my drupal shoes... You could always order a pair of nikeID shoes as shown in my blogpost (http://nicolasleroy.be/content/drupal-shoes) to show off at the drupal fashion show.
