Garage Band
This is our first podcast made using Garage Band. It is a MP4/AAC file with still images and indexes for each section of the 'cast. It should play in iTunes and all recent versions of Quicktime. However this is our first attempt using this system, so feedback is appreciated. We are continuing to tune the process to provide more features and ease of use.
MP3 format please
Because of my MP3 player, I cannot use ITunes with it, so a MP3 audio-only format would be very, very useful too.
Play files with Linux
Hi,
I like your podcast an the videocast.
But isn't it possible to use a audio/video format which I can use easier with linux.
MP3 works with no problem. But with the MP4/AAC I have problems.
And I wasn't able to see the videocast because it is Quicktime. Even with Windows and a older Quicktime I wasn't able to watch the videocast.
So it would be nice if you think a little bit more about the OSS people.
Thanks for the great show!
Another great show guys! The enhanced podcast is a great feature, however, the shots of you guys was distracting from the content. What would really be great would be if you could use screen captures from actual examples about what you are discussing at the moment.
I really enjoyed the category/taxonomy intro and would welcome some more in-depth discussion.
Thank you so much for taking the time to educate those of us who are overwhelmed with Drupal... And it's even better in audio!...

MP4/AAC file works on a 2Gb iPod Nano
Hi guys,
First of all, a big thanks for all your efforts to introduce people to Drupal. I had tried to no avail to install Drupal a few months ago using the install text files. Because of your video demonstration I managed to get the system up in no time. By the time I was trying to figure out how to get the menus to play nice, you had that video up as well! Are you guys psychic? Nice work.
Just to give you some feedback, the MP4/AAC file works perfectly on a 2Gb iPod Nano. Since I was unfamiliar with this indexing, I thought that my iPod was broken because of all the black and blue lines on the display :) The indexing feature is quite fancy, but not really necessary for me. MP3, or even Ogg-Vorbis, would be great since its more platform-free.
I usually just listen to the whole podcast a few times from beginning to end to make sure I get all of it. I always hate spending hours on finding a particular feature only to find out later that it was right there in a podcast...
Thanks a lot and keep the podcasts coming!
thanks and mplayer success report
Hi there, thanks for your podcasts, just wanted to report that I was able to enjoy your new Garage Band m4a format (graphics included) on my Slackware 10.2 box with mplayer/gmplayer/kmplayer right off the bat without having to make any adjustments of any kind.
By the way, do you know of any open source multi-platform podcast applications that even come close?
Thanks once again, from Buenos Aires, Argentina,
Victor Kane

mp3 players
If you have an mp3 player that doesnt like other formats, converting is easy:
$ faad -o foo.wav bar.m4a
$ lame -h -b 192 foo.wav bar.mp3
m4a
Very cool podcast! But the m4a file with that much marks makes my iPod very slow...
just turn on caching
i think it's a good idea to use caching even when you're not on production, ie developing. because than you can get used to it. you don't want to turn something on that you haven't tested or aren't aware of what happens when it's enabled.
Develop with caching on, just remember if you're anonymous (not logged in) you're seeing cached data ...
be aware of the cache feature and how it works. you need it.
Odd download
Interestingly clicking on the link in Safari 2.0 starts a screen of text in the browser, option clicking starts the download of a file "LullabotPodcastNo3.m4a.txt" removing the .txt makes the file recognizable by iTunes. Odd
MIME problem - fixed
Thanks for the heads up. That turned out to be a MIME type problem on our server. I've added the appropriate type for m4a files (audio/mp4) and it seems to be working again.
I don't know. My other
I don't know. My other comment didn't show.
