S/P Magic Menus Demo

This is a demo of the S/P Magic Menus module. You should find a box titled "Magic Menu" somewhere on this page. It relies on the S/P Ajax module to act as a gateway to the amazing Scriptaculous and Prototype JavaScript effects and ajax functions. It is still not fully tested, but if you are using a JavaScript capable browser you should see a floating menu on the page.

You can grab the title bar of this menu and drag it wherever you like. This position is saved using an AJAX callback to the Drupal server. So when you move from page to page, the menu should "remember" its position.

There's still a lot of testing and feature work to be done, but I wanted to get a demo up so that people could see how it works.

nice work

whoa this is very cool, I hadn't noticed the S/P Ajax module yet but it looks fantastic from my first peak.

SPAJAX

I noticed that there hasn't really been anything new on the Spajax scene for drupal.

It was a big hype a couple of weeks ago, and now it seems to be standing still.
Am I looking in the wrong places?

The current CVS release of this module also doesn't have support for IE?

Thanks!

That's True

Unfortunately, I've been very busy with other things. SPAjax has been a pet (non-paying) project of mine and so it has been moved to the back burner while I coordinate Lullabot client work.

Perhaps we should raise a bounty so that I can devote more time to this module. I definitely have lots of ideas for what we could do with it and would love to spend more time on it.

What do you think of moo.fx

What do you think of moo.fx and the work on the moo module? I am very interested in easy AJAX on Drupal, so any work in this area is appreciated!

Take care,
Rick

Where is it?

Sorry, I don't see the box titled "Magic Menu" anywhere on this page. Tried it on ff 1.5 and IE 6.0.
Maybe it's been removed? Weird.

Yes...

There was a bug that was causing MM not to work, so I had disabled it.

But the bug has been fixed, so I have re-enabled the menu. I believe it's still a bit funky in IE, but should be working correctly with other browsers.

No MM box again?

Have you disabled MM again? I'm looking for it now and I don't see an MM box on the page anywhere.

Yes

We've upgraded the site to Drupal 5.. and there is no Drupal 5 version of Magic Menus... Sorry.

I'm impressed. This is very

I'm impressed. This is very promising. I actually never saw such a magic menu so i cannot compare but i see many cases in wich a magic menu like that would be very useful

This is great - I had a problem with expand menus

This is really cool thanks.

I did have a problem: when I chose to expand menus (says required by MM) almost all my navigation menus disappeared, so I had to disable the MM module. I am a Drupal newbie.

The SPAjax tests are cool - I need to learn how to do that.

---

I am a web developer that has been working with strictly with Active Server Pages since 1999. I am starting to move to PHP/MySQL specifically because there are these cool CMS systems like Drupal (also looking at Joomla) and becasue of MySQL being so strong.

I enabled this module and

I enabled this module and expanded my menu as it described. But my menu ended up being incredibly long. How do you use drop downs as in the Themeing and Other options on the menu on this page?

localization problem

I tested magic menus with my system. It's quite nice except that there seems to be some problem with localization. Unless you do not "expand" the menu items as suggested (hence you can not enjoy the dynamic expansion feature but still be fine with other features), the expanded menu items are not localizable any more -- it will only show in the language in which environment it was expanded. E.g., I use English for admin account, if I expand "create content", all non-English user will see "create content" instead of "create content" in their own language.

I don't know whether this is the problem of magic menus or my drupal installation or other contributed modules.

repeated item from sub menus - can they be removed?

I have just installed this for the first time - i really like it.

There is one think i want to be able to change - though i am not sure how to. Can you set this up so as not to have the categories repeated.

For example, on this page, you have the category 'Themeing' and then repeated under it the item 'Themeing'. Is it possible to not have 'Theming' repeated???

I see this as the only negative i have found so far. I am not wanting to criticize - thank you so much for creating and releasing it.

Maybe this is more feedback than a question, though i would love to know a work-around for this?

Thanks
c.

Not working

No browser I view this on on either Mac or PC shows any menu. Is this just broken?

Magic menu dissapeared like

Magic menu dissapeared like art of magic

Jeff you abandon all your

Jeff you abandon all your good work ?

Yes

I like to think of it as "moving on". The code is still around. Feel free to take it over, upgrade it, and make it your own Drupal project! :-)
