Portland API workshops going well!
Blog by Jeff EatonJanuary 11, 2008 - 3:18pm
The assorted Lullabots have been in Portland, OR this week teaching the intro and advanced Drupal API workshops. It's been a great week so far, and the attendees have been really sharp. We've built modules, done crazy tricks with jQuery, fixed a bug in Drupal core, and one of the students helped another site close a security hole during our Security and Performance teaching session. That's hands-on...
Also, we played Dance Dance Revolution!
After this week, I'm really looking forward to February's theming workshops in LA. Yay Drupal!

Guide...
So... Does the "everyone" in that "How to Contribute to Drupal: A Guide for Everyone" slide include people who didn't attend? Would love to take a look at that if it's something y'all make available to the teeming masses.
On drupal.org
The presentation given in our workshops is a slight variation on the talk I gave in Barcelona on the topic, which you can find at http://drupal.org/node/177877.
Wow! Could you tell me, how
Wow! Could you tell me, how much attendees did you have? Or what is the average number of attendees in your workshops?
Attendance
We generally have 40-50 attendees, although it depends on the event and the venue.
audio feedback
That second picture couldn't possibly have Jeff working on audio problems, could it?
Nope!
We've got brand new wireless mics for 2008 and they are *sweet*. That picture is just Jeff getting us set up :)
Is Mac Book Pro a prerequisite?
I think I see one guy in all those pictures who isn't styling a mac book pro. How did he get in?
Actually...
Actually, I was there... and there were many Windows Laptops, and even some Linux ones. I have not been able to convince my pocketbook to purchase one yet. Workshops were definitely great though! I highly recommend them.
Re: Mac
@jersu:
Here in Oregon, we're big on affirmative action. They had to let one Windows user in to meet the state mandated quotas.
lullabot outfit
That's a nice sweater James has there, I suppose those are crew-only? :) I wonder if he has the blue Drupal socks on as well...
Custom
They are "crew only", although we each got our own. We had them made at Neighborhoodies while in Providence, RI last November.
And, no the socks didn't make it to the workshops this time. But expect them to make an appearance in Boston!
