A New Daily Podcast from Lullabot called "Drupal Voices"

Blog by Kent Bye

Lullabot is starting a new daily podcast series called "Drupal Voices" that will consist of 5 to 15-minute interviews with a variety of different people from the Drupal community. We will continue to produce the extended Lullabot Drupal Podcast, but we're starting "Drupal Voices" to help fulfill the demand for short, high-quality Drupal news.

There are so many interesting things and cutting edge developments happening with Drupal that it's hard to keep track of it all. At Drupalcon, I acted as if I was a beat reporter covering Drupal and started investigating the topics that people were buzzing about. I conducted over 50 brief audio interviews with module developers, themers, designers, and product managers and now we have enough material to seed the first two months of a daily podcast.

Weekly Themes

We'll be focusing on a different theme each week, and we'll be starting off with some recent Drupal news starting with some commentary on the South by Southwest conference CMS showdown panel that conducted an apples-to-apples comparison between Drupal, Joomla! and Wordpress. Then we'll end the week with three different perspectives on the Drupal usability testing that took place at the University of Baltimore the week before Drupalcon.

Other issues that we'll be tackling over the first couple of months are migration & deployment management modules, the future of the semantic web in Drupal, the D7 user experience overhaul, news from various consulting firms, how Drupal fits in with citizen journalism and public media, and various Drupal module recommendations.

Subscription Options

We will be offering a number of different RSS feed options that will allow you to tailor your subscription to Lullabot media. If you're only subscribed to the Lullabot podcast, then you will need to additionally subscribe to the separate "Drupal Voices" audio feed here. Or you could alternatively subscribe to the "all audiocasts" feed where you'll get both the regular Lullabot Podcast and the Drupal Voices podcast -- or you could subscribe to the "all podcasts" feed where you'll get all of the Lullabot audio and video.

If twitter has become your de facto RSS feed reader, then be sure to follow @lullabot for links to the latest episodes.

Covering the Drupal ecosystem

We're excited to be able to supplement our extended podcasts with these shorter snippets from around the Drupal world, and we think that it'll help provide a better picture into the thriving ecosystem that helps make Drupal such a powerful piece of software. It'll also help keep ourselves up to date with the latest trends, and also hopefully help spread the word about Drupal in a digestible way to a wider audience.

Our first episode is with Jeff Eaton who talks about his involvement with the SXSW CMS Showdown panel.

Will this be available on iTunes as well?

Yes!

Yes, there are links in the header of this page. You can subscribe to each podcast separately, or everything at once.

But the iTunes link for the Drupal Voices podcast is:

My iPhone is stupid. The iTunes links don't work on it and a search for drupal voices in the iTunes app on my iPhone yeilds no hits... Maybe it will just take a few days for it to show up in the search. Usually I can subscribe on my computer, then sync to my phone, but my computer is unavailable for a week... Oh the torture! :) I can't wait to hear them. Thanks!
