[Konstantin Käfer](https://kkaefer.com/) (aka [kkafer](http://drupal.org/user/14572)) talks about the [Form API States System for Drupal 7](http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/developer--topics--forms_api_reference.html/7#states). The states system allows you to create dependencies between form elements so that you can for example make a textbox disappear when a checkbox is checked. The [Examples for Developers module](http://drupal.org/project/examples) has some more [examples of the #states syntax on api.drupal.org](http://api.drupal.org/api/function/form_example_states_form/7). For more detailed information on how to use the states system, we cover it in Chapter 12 of the [jQuery & JavaScript in Drupal](http://store.lullabot.com/products/jquery-and-javascript-in-drupal) Lullabot Learing Series video.
