Chad Phillips (aka [hunmonk](http://drupal.org/user/22079)) talks about a couple of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP / Voices over IP) solutions that integrating with Drupal. He took over the [Asterisk integration module](http://drupal.org/project/asterisk), and has done a lot of work with it over the years through his [Apartment Lines](https://www.apartmentlines.com/) business that provides Interactive Voice Response (IVR) menus for when tenants need to call their landlords. And since this recording at DrupalCon San Francisco, Phillips has taken a few initial steps towards creating a [FreeSWITCH integration Drupal module](http://drupal.org/project/freeswitch), which is a newer open source VoIP telephony platform. Phillips also talks about the challenges of potentially developing a VoIP API module since Asterisk and FreeSWITCH are different in a lot of ways.
