VINCI Highways is a leading international roadway concessionaire and mobility services provider. As the company accelerated its growth across international markets—including major integrated concessions in the U.S.—it needed its first dedicated digital platform to showcase its global expertise, strengthen credibility across regions, and give internal teams a scalable foundation for managing and expanding content.

We partnered with the VINCI Highways team to build a custom WordPress platform to support both editors and developers.

## **Key Outcomes**

- A modern, U.S.-focused website that supports business development and recruitment
- ~60 pages across 6 sections, including 24 global project profiles
- A flexible design system with 31 custom blocks and 8 reusable components
- WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance across all templates
- Architecture with multilingual capabilities for future expansion

> *Our website needed to be geared toward owners with an increasing need for highway development. In recent years, markets like the US, Brazil, and India have been areas of expansion for us, and Lullabot has done a tremendous job in helping us speak directly to these growth markets.*

## **The Challenge**

VINCI Highways is a global infrastructure leader operating over 3,750 km of highways across 13 countries. The company is rapidly expanding, and needs a dedicated digital presence to support that growth. There was no central platform to:

- Showcase their global portfolio
- Support recruitment and business development
- Enable distributed teams to manage content effectively

## **Grounded in global and local insight**

We started with research that brought together perspectives from across the organization and industry.

- Stakeholder survey capturing input from 32 team members across multiple countries
- In-person workshop with both executive and regional leadership members
- Cross-departmental interviews
- External interviews with industry experts and partners
- Competitive analysis

This work revealed a clear strategic direction: VINCI Highways needed to establish itself as a credible, trusted partner deeply rooted in the regions where it operates. We translated that into a focused content approach with a straightforward message: Your partner in designing, building, financing, and operating the highways you need.

## **Structuring for clarity and scale**

Before design, we aligned on information architecture—ensuring the right content surfaced at the right time.

- Defined a clear content hierarchy across key pages
- Prioritized what users need to see first vs. explore deeper
- Built a structure that supports a complex, B2B audience

## **Designing for flexibility and scale**

We developed a modern, visual direction that's approachable and distinctly market-ready, while staying connected to the broader VINCI brand.

- Style exploration workshops to align on look and feel
- Rapid concept testing through “Zoom Mock” homepage explorations
- Collaborative refinement of typography, layout, imagery, and color

This led to a design system that balances consistency with flexibility.

- Component-based system built on atomic design principles
- 31 custom content blocks for structured, flexible page building
- 8 reusable components to ensure UI consistency

## **Engineering for long-term sustainability**

To give editors a structured, intuitive system while allowing developers to retain full control over performance, accessibility, and code quality, we built a custom WordPress platform using:

- Custom “Robin” theme: Twig-based architecture for full control over markup and performance
- Structured content model: Keeps layouts consistent while giving editors flexibility to build pages
- Accessibility-first approach: Meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards across all components

We also extended the platform with these enterprise-grade capabilities:

- SSO integration with VINCI’s Keycloak identity provider
- Migration to European-based hosting for compliance
- CI/CD pipeline for automated deployments

## **The result**

VINCI Highways now has a digital platform that reflects the scale of its operations—and supports its continued growth globally and in the U.S.

- **A credible, modern presence** aligned with global brand standards
- **A scalable system** that supports expansion across regions and languages
- **Improved efficiency** for distributed content teams
- **A maintainable architecture** that evolves without requiring full rebuilds

> *“As VINCI Highways continues to grow, we needed a digital platform that could support our business ambitions and reflect the way we work across markets. What made this project successful was the strong collaboration between our internal teams and Lullabot, who understood our culture, objectives, and the expectations of our grantors, stakeholders, and future partners. Together, we built a platform that strengthens our credibility and will support VINCI Highways as we continue expanding globally.”*
