Jeff Walpole from Phase2 Technology talks about their work with four of the most popular Drupal Distributions of Open Atrium, Open Publish, Open Public and Managing News. They recently acquired the trademark rights on two of these distributions from Development Seed, and so the interoperability of Drupal features between distributions is a big concern for Phase2. It has led them down the path of thinking about Drupal Apps, which was an idea explored extensively in this Lullabot Podcast on the concept of a Drupal App store.

Phase2 Technology is a company to watch when it comes to the future of Drupal distributions, and they'll be experimenting with at least seven different revenue streams from distributions including the possibility of "Drupal Apps." It's still very early in the process, and Walpole explains his vision in more detail in the interview.

For more information, be sure to check out this post from Phase2's Irakli Nadareishvili: Apps in Drupal and on the Web: The Why and The How. We'll be running a Drupal Vocies interview with Phase2's distribution product manager Karen Borchert next week, and our interviews with Andrew Hoppin and Robert Douglass also talking more about different aspects of Drupal Apps.

Finally, there were a couple of sessions at DrupalCon worth checking including "Drupal As a Mature Software Industry" as well as '"Drupal as a Framework" vs. "Drupal as a Platform"'
