Come learn how to make your Drupal site not look like a Drupal site!

We'll be working on an example site, implementing a theme from our initial design. We will address how to approach the implementation with Drupal and how those decisions affect our theming tasks.

What will we cover?

• How to approach a Drupal theme
• Creating a theme from a pure HTML/CSS design
• Working with template files
• Overriding theme functions
• Adding custom variables to template files
• The Drupal theme system and how it works
• Advanced overrides with the Drupal theme system
• Tools and techniques for finding bugs and diagnosing errors

Who should attend?

• Drupal site administrators who are interesting in learning to tweak the way their site looks and feels
• Web developers interested in how to change Drupal's interface the right way.
• Drupal themers looking to take presentation control to the next level.
• PHP developers interested in tweaking Drupal's interface.
• Web designers or developers interested in making Drupal not look or act like Drupal.

We will be working with Drupal 6, but questions about other Drupal versions are always welcome.

Attendees should be comfortable with HTML, CSS and PHP and have some experience with Drupal. Seating is limited, so register soon.

What Should I Bring?

Bring your laptop in order to get the full benefit of the workshop. Lullabot will provide each participant with free wifi and their own hosted Drupal site to work on during class.

You'll also want to bring your list of things that you're trying to do and have questions about. We're here to help!

Additional Information:

Each morning will begin with registration and continental breakfast at 9:30am. Classes run from 10am to 5pm.

Attendees will be responsible for their lodging and dinner. Lullabot will provide a light breakfast and lunch with vegetarian options.
