A Brief Drupal Survey: What Do You Want to Learn?
Lullabot has been teaching Drupal workshops for over 4 years now. Between our public workshops, seminars, and private training events, we've taught thousands of up-and-coming Drupal site builders and developers how to use, configure, and program for Drupal. Many of our students have gone on to have very successful careers in Drupal; many have made great Drupal sites; and many have risen to to prominent positions within the Drupal community.
During the past 4 years we've watched the Drupal community grow exponentially. Lullabot's first Drupal event was 2006's "Open Source CMS Summit" in Vancouver with about 100 Drupal developers attending. Drupal founder, Dries Buytaert, was amazed at the size of the event. This event gradually morphed into the more CMS-specific "DrupalCon". Here we are 4 years later looking at about 4,000 people attending DrupalCon in San Francisco next month.
Over that time, Drupal itself has changed immensely as well. We started teaching before CCK and Views began changing the way that Drupal sites get built. Drupal is always changing. With the release of Drupal 7, CCK will be be gobbled up by core and we may start just referring to it as Drupal's "field system". And even now, we're seeing new ways of working and deploying Drupal sites emerging on the horizon. Not only is Drupal a moving target, but the community's makeup, needs, and wants are changing.
With our on-site training events, companies and institutions hire Lullabot to come and teach on specific topics. However, for our public workshops we need to gauge what topics people would like to learn. Shall we teach simple Drupal concepts and site building? Our Drupal Module Development video sure has been popular. Do people want more workshops on how to build Drupal modules? At one point it seemed like we couldn't teach enough theming classes. But these days Drupal theming feels like something less mystical than it use to be... or maybe that's just my perception of things.
So it seems like it's about time to ask: What do YOU want to learn? What Lullabot workshops would YOU like to attend? We're hoping to get as many people as possible to respond to the short survey below. Tell your friends. Tell anyone you know who's interested in Drupal. More responses will help us to better plan out our upcoming workshop schedule, locations, and subject matter.
Drupal is thriving. Drupal skills are in high demand. People want to learn Drupal. We want to help. We're in the process of expanding our Drupal training and workshop offerings. But we need to know where to dedicate our resources. So... What do you want to learn?
Thanks for your help!
