Speaking of modules, please

Speaking of modules, please ensure the modules that are being contributed have sufficient documentation, it's easy to contribute a module and you understand cause you wrote it, but how sure are you that other people will 'get it' ?

Autolocale

Not in the CHANGELOG, i18n related : autolocale has been moved to core.
Meaning that when you enable a module, drupal will automatically import the module's translation (if it is available in the module distribution) for the languages used on your site.
That's a great usability improvement for non english sites...

Salary

Love the podcast. I work for a community college and always recommend student's learn and use open source. What could I tell them a Drupal developer earns, beings the only language they understand is dollars and cents.

foss for beer

Salary: all I see on forums are "next time you see the developer of XYZ module, be sure to buy her/him a beer." That's motivation enough for a college student, too :D

(but no, my last job as a webmaster, I instituted all new sites on Drupal and basically got to do full-time Drupal-- so typical web-dev salary is a quotable figure in addition to what you can make "doing drupal development" as a consultant)

[side note: scarry flashing captcha notice, guys!]

AHAH in Blocks Admin page?

Great cast as always. Love the new enhancements to 6. Question: are the AHAH changes you talked about already available in HEAD? I downloaded the latest today and played with admin/build/block but didn't see the 'magic' y'all were talking about.

As always, thanks! Keep up the great work.

hmmm

Well, since I never see you in #drupal-support I'm not quite sure how you would know no one answers questions there. There is a little support community there. I have gotten a lot of documentation written up from contributors in that channel as well.

Is there always someone to answer? Of course not. It's all contributor and volunteer.

Pound sign

The great Atlantic divide had me thinking £ for #. What is that # character really called?

Podcasting on Drupal 6

I have a podcast site running 5.7 and the audio module. I've been playing with another site running 6.1 but there's no audio module available for Drupal 6.

Any ideas on the simplest way to get a podcast working on a Drupal 6.1 site?

James Walker on March 9, 2008 - 5:54pm

Podcasting with upload.module

You can run a simple podcast just by using core's upload.module and attaching audio files - which will create the necessary tags in the RSS feed for a podcast.

However, you won't be able to take advantage of some of audio module's nicer features such as the flash player, the metadata/id3 tag reading and the iTunes-specific RSS tags. Keep an eye on the issue queue for updated versions.
