Getting hands-on

Are you new to Drupal and having trouble getting your head around how it all works? Have you seen an awesome site but have no idea how to make your default Drupal installation work like that? Feel like you could be building sites more effectively? Our two day intensive workshop will show you how to put all the pieces together.

We will get hands-on with Drupal, walk through the process of setting up a Drupal site and discuss its parts, features, modules, concepts, and how they all work together. We'll discuss best practices for creating an efficient, well-tuned site and talk about the best ways of working with Drupal to keep your site future-proof, speedy, and robust.

We'll be discussing Drupal core as well as CCK, Views and several other popular modules. We will show how Drupal's module system works and how it is possible to do a lot with a few well chosen modules. We'll also talk about how to pick the best modules for your site.

Additional information:

Each morning will begin with registration and continental breakfast at 9:30am. Classes run from 10am to 5pm.

Registration includes continental breakfast and lunch daily.

We will working with Drupal 6, but questions about other Drupal versions are always welcome.

Who should attend?

• Internet savvy individuals with some technical skills who aren't too scared of a little HTML, FTPing, and generally mucking about with a website.

Prerequisites: none.

Attendees should be familiar with general web concepts. Previous experience with Drupal is a plus, but not required. Attendance is limited so register soon.

What should I bring?

Bring your laptop in order to get the full benefit of the workshop. Lullabot will provide each participant with free wifi and their own hosted Drupal site to work on during class.

You'll also want to bring your list of things that you're trying to do and have questions about. We're here to help!

Providence, RI

One of Lullabot's favorite locations, Providence RI is a beautiful, sea-side New England city with lots of charm and character. Just a 2 1/2 hour train ride from New York, 45 minutes from Boston, and a 15 minute drive from the Providence airport, this is a very central location with affordable hotel options.
