We kick off the Drupal Voices series with a brief interview that I conducted with Jeff Eaton on the CMS Showdown panel at SXSW where Drupal went head-to-head against Joomla! and Wordpress in an Iron Chef-style competition.

The SXSW panel happened last Monday, and it looks like Drupal edged out Joomla! and Wordpress from the client's perspective, and all accounts from the audience vote looks like it was a 3-way tie.

This interview was conducted the week leading up to the panel discussion.

Some clarification!

In the interview (which was conducted just a few days after the site completion deadline), I mentioned that the Joomla! and WordPress teams both decided not to implement access control. After chatting with the Joomla! team, it's clear that they did -- they just had a different mix of default permissions set up when the sites were first opened to the public, and I didn't spot how they'd configured things.

The showdown was a great learning experience for everyone involved, and a lot of fun -- just wanted to make sure that I clarified that point before incorrect info started disseminating!
