Last month Angie and I drove up to Petaluma, CA and did an interview with Leo Laporte at the TWiT Cottage. We talked about DrupalCon, the upcoming release of Drupal 7, and did a general check in with Leo about Drupal. The question "is Drupal secure" or really "is Drupal secure enough to be deployed in my environment" was addressed by the Drupal Security Report - http://drupalsecurityreport.org/

Note that you characterize the Drupal Security Team as reviewing contributed as reviewing code. The team actually doesn't do that ;)
